Thank you for your interest.
Unfortunately, the accent requirements set by our corporate clients mean we cannot move forward at this time. This is a contractual standard we're obligated to uphold on their behalf, not a decision we make lightly. We truly wish you every success in your teaching career.

— Café English team
Teach English at Café English.
We hire native English speakers to work in a cozy, café-style language school in the heart of Budapest. Before we start, a quick eligibility check.
What our corporate clients require
A quick heads-up before you apply: the criteria below aren't our personal preference — they come directly from the corporate clients we serve. Their in-house language programmes specify these standards in their contracts with us, and we're obligated to honour them.
Because of this, teachers we place must be native English speakers from the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, or New Zealand — or have lived many years in one of those countries with a traditional UK/US accent.
Let's get to know you.
Basic contact details and a couple of photos so we can recognise you at your first mock class.
Where does your accent come from?
This is the bit our students care about most. Answer honestly — if you don't fit one of the listed countries, we'll ask for a short audio sample.
30-second audio recording
Our corporate clients require teachers who speak with the Queen's English (UK) or a standard US accent — this is a strict acoustic standard written into our contracts with them. Because you weren't born or raised in one of the listed countries (or your mother tongue isn't English), please read aloud any news article for up to 30 seconds so we can verify your accent meets their expectations.
What's your teaching story?
We hire both professional teachers and passionate beginners. Tell us where you are on that spectrum.
Logistics of being in Budapest.
We don't offer VISA support, so we need to understand your legal situation up front. Any classes happen in person or online.
When can you actually teach?
Our students book classes across the day — the more slots you open, the more hours you earn. Tick at least 5 time-slots so we know when to schedule you.
Your tech kit.
Online classes need reliable gear. Tick what you currently have — we'll let you know if anything's missing.
Almost there.
Last step — please read the contract summary and confirm.
Fixed term: 8 months from the date of signing. After that, a 60-day notice period applies, without fixed term, by either party.
Early termination: if the contract is terminated before 8 months due to the teacher's fault or significant personal changes, a penalty of 1000 EUR is payable. If Café English terminates, we pay the same 1000 EUR to you.
Training: a comprehensive online training material (our theoretical handbook, nearly 400 pages) is available to you. Once you've completed it, you'll have 3–4 practical sessions where you can apply what you've learned and demonstrate your skills — we provide mock students, and we're present throughout to support and give feedback. On successful completion, you receive a Certificate.
Full-time salary: around 400,000 HUF net/month depending on weekly hours. Freelance hourly rates: we'll provide detailed information on this.
VISA: Café English does not provide VISA support. Teachers must arrange their own legal status.
